The Engineer’s Qualification System for the Society of Chemical Engineers, Japan commenced in FY2006. The system features the following three qualifications.Associate Professional Chemical Engineer(APCE)
This qualification certifies that you are adept at chemical engineering.Professional Chemical Engineer(PCE)
This qualification is for engineers and researchers performing operations requiring professional expertise and applied skills related to chemical engineering.Senior Professional Chemical Engineer(SPCE)
This qualification is for engineers and researchers who play a leading role in operations that require a significant level of professional expertise and applied skills related to chemical engineering.Through this system, qualifications are awarded to chemical engineers by the Society of Chemical Engineers, Japan. A person who has passed the screening process and test administered by the Society of Chemical Engineers, Japan can use the qualification titles of “Associate Professional Chemical Engineer,” “Professional Chemical Engineer,” and “Senior Professional Chemical Engineer” by registering with the society. Through the utilization of these qualifications, the society aims to achieve more recognition and interest in chemical engineering as well as providing a fair assessment of the engineers level of ability in the field. This standard will raise the public’s understanding and awareness of chemical engineering and allow for further contribution to social and industrial development. Additionally, in parallel with this system, CPD (continuous learning) point system will be adopted from June 1, 2007 in order to help engineers involved in chemical engineering to maintain and improve their skills autonomously and continuously.
After members of the Society of Chemical Engineers have participated in workshops, lectures, symposiums, etc. and taken CPD (continuous learning) programs, they can obtain CPD points by registering on our website. CPD points are added to their score for the “Professional Chemical Engineer” test.
